Machinery manufacturing continues to be one of the important sectors contributing to the growth of the Turkish economy. The sector plays an important role in the development of the manufacturing industry in Turkey, especially thanks to its intermediate product production capacity and its input to important sectors such as chemicals, construction, automotive, energy, textile, agriculture and mining. The Turkish machinery manufacturing industry stands out with its intensive R&D studies (more than 53,000 engineers graduate in the country each year) and high added value.

Turkey's competitiveness in the machinery industry provides favorable input costs and strong opportunities. It includes input costs, competitive labor costs, affordable and reliable energy sources and logistical advantages based on the geostrategic position of the country. Opportunities include skilled workforce, attractive investment incentives, innovation-oriented infrastructure, strong supply base and local clusters.

Some important data and figures of the Turkish machinery industry are as follows:

In 2018, the Turkish machinery industry quadrupled its revenue to US $ 23 billion and doubled its workforce to 244,000.

While global exports doubled in 2018, Turkey's exports increased five times to reach US $ 17.1 billion.

While the export / import ratio in the sector increased from 30% to 60% as of 2003, it showed that the market became less dependent on imports by growing continuously.

Being the 4th largest export industry of the country with a share of 9% in Turkey's total exports, machinery products are exported to over 200 countries. 60% of the exported machinery products are mostly shipped to EU countries and the USA, including Germany, England, France and Italy.

The total imports of the machinery industry exceeded US $ 28 billion in 2018, demonstrating the strong demand from the domestic market.

Turkey's agricultural machinery market reached $ 2.1 billion in 2018, ranking 4th in Europe.

Turkey's construction machinery market reached a record level of 3 billion USD in 2017, ranking 4th in Europe and 11th in the world.

Turkey's heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector stands out as a strong industrial center with a value of US $ 3.2 billion. The industry also functions as Europe's production base for panel radiators, boilers and air handling units (AHU).

Turkey's lifting and handling equipment market reached 2.4 billion USD in 2018.
