He Becomes an Entrepreneur with His Grandmother's Jam
Can anyone forget the taste of the jam your grandmothers or mothers made? But did you pay attention to how these jams are made as a child?
Young entrepreneur Fraser Doherty was obsessed with the jams his grandmother made when he was just 14 years old. Indeed, it is unclear where an enterprise idea will come from. Doherty has proven this once again.
After Doherty learned how to make homemade jams, he started making jam and selling it to his neighbors. When he was 16, he named his jams "SuperJam" and wanted to take his business to higher levels.
“The biggest challenge was to motivate myself”
Doherty had always dreamed of doing this. "The biggest challenge was to motivate myself," said Doherty, and never lost faith in jam recipes. He was certain that these jams, made using completely natural fruits, would be liked by everyone. So it happened ...
The young entrepreneur got closer to his success with every step. He managed to enter large supermarket chains by increasing the number of jars. SuperJam now supplies jam to 2,000 supermarkets around the world, including major companies such as Tesco, Wal-Mart and Waitrose. SuperJam has a turnover of $ 3 million a year. Doherty became the youngest ever supplier of a large supermarket chain in March 2007.
What was it that drove him to become an entrepreneur?
Doherty has always dreamed of starting his own business. Because she saw that the adults around her didn't enjoy their work. Believing that there is a better way, he started the SuperJam initiative with the support of his family.
SuperJams, which are offered for sale with strawberry, raspberry and cranberry, blueberry and currant, are among the sub-product groups, as well as SuperNuts, plain and crisp peanut butter and Super Honey, which are their own production.
SuperJam was exhibited under the title of "Iconic Scottish Brands" at the National Museum of Scotland. Doherty was also awarded the title of "Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year". Doherty succeeded in becoming the first person to be chosen for this title outside of North America.
Doherty has two books
Not only that, but with the SuperJam Cookbook cookbook, Doherty shared his jam-making secrets with the world.
A year later, he published his book Super Business, which tells the story of entrepreneurship. This book also entered the bestseller list in a short time with the above cookbook.
SuperJam also runs "SuperJam Tea Parties" for older people living in nursing homes or sheltered housing. In addition, it has hosted more than 125 events across the UK, with live music, dance and donuts.
Fraser Doherty is now 24 years old. He has been giving conferences on entrepreneurship at London Metropolitan University since 2010.
